School Board Vacancy
Director District No. 3
The Arlington School Board is seeking to appoint a director to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Director Kingman in Director District #3, serving the areas north and west of Arlington including Bryant and Silvana. State law requires that the remaining school board members appoint a replacement within 90 days. The appointed board member will serve until the next regularly scheduled school board election in fall 2025.

Interviews for this vacancy will be held at the District Office (315 N French Avenue, Arlington) in the evening on July 8, 2024 in an open public meeting. After the interviews, the board will move into executive session to evaluate the qualifications of candidates for appointment to the elective office. The new board director who is selected will be sworn in at the Board's regular business meeting on Aug. 12, 2024. This new director's appointment would be in place until the election in November 2025.
A candidate must be a registered voter within the Arlington School District and reside in Director District #3. The area map and description can be viewed on the district web site at this link and verified by calling the Snohomish County Elections office at (425) 388-3444.
Board Member responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Attending regular meetings, study sessions and executive sessions
- Attending special events, such as graduation
- Attending school visits and voices opportunities, if possible
- Preparing for board meetings by reading BoardDoc meeting packets
- Completing all onboarding, Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA), equity and required trainings
