Arlington Public Schools was one of 20 public agencies in the state to receive a grant from the Washington State Archives. The district received an “Organize the File Room” grant for $7,310 to help manage district records that are held at the District Office. The district applied for the grant in May and the grant was awarded in August.
“The records room is housed at the Roosevelt Building, a 100-year-old building in Downtown Arlington which serves as the District Office,” said Gary Sabol, Director of Communications. “In addition to the district records, over the years this room has become a repository for other items that don’t belong there. This grant will help us organize the file room so it can better serve its purpose of housing records.”
The grant will pay for shelving, archives boxes, records destruction for records that have reached the end of their retention period, and hours for a temporary worker.
