Arlington Public Schools begins COVID-19 testing of on-site staff
COVID TestingVoluntary COVID-19 testing of Arlington Public Schools employees providing in-person services to students took place on Jan. 4 following winter break. Students identified with high needs and certain English Language Learners as well as those in connectivity stations are currently receiving in-person services.

“The purpose of the testing was to identify COVID-19 positive staff members before the start of school, including those who were asymptomatic or not showing signs of COVID-19,” said Brian Lewis, Executive Director of Operations. “This would minimize impacts of staff and student quarantines due to close contacts following winter break.”

The district received 320 free tests from the Snohomish Health District.

“We had 219 staff members who chose to be tested on Jan. 4,” said Krissa Cramer, District Nurse. “There was one staff member who was referred for further testing. The nursing staff felt the testing went extremely well and was conducted in a safe, efficient and organized manner.”

Additional testing of staff will take place Jan. 15 when kindergarten through third grade students return for hybrid learning on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
