Arlington Public Schools continues meal program throughout summer
Summer MealsArlington Public Schools’ current meal distribution program has been operating since March 13 and will end on June 19. The program has served 120,000 meals to kids at 23 different sites. A new meal program starts on Monday, June 29 and will run through Aug. 21. Any child will be able to receive meals; there is no income qualification required and children do not have to be students enrolled in Arlington Public Schools.

“We understand that many families will still need access to meals throughout the summer,” said Brian Lewis, Executive Director of Operations. “The new meal program will look different. Instead of serving hot meals daily as we do now, we will provide five days of breakfasts and lunches once a week at sites throughout the district.”

The new program will distribute meals for pickup at the following six sites:

• Arlington Boys and Girls Club
• Presidents Elementary School
• The Rivercrest neighborhood (intersection of 208th ST NE/61st AV NE)
• The Jordan River Trails neighborhood (at the community clubhouse)
• Bryant Community Grange (on State Route 9 north of Arlington)
• Trafton Store (on State Route 530 east of Arlington)

During the service interruption period of June 22 through June 28, the Arlington Community Food Bank will provide meal packs at their location in Arlington on 63rd Ave NE. More information about this is available on the ASD website.

The summer meal program is still being developed. Completing the following survey will help us make the program as effective as possible:
