Vikram Madan, a Pacific Northwest children’s author and artist, visited Presidents Elementary School on March 3 for Read Across America Week. Madan talked to students during two assemblies and held an illustrator workshop to show students how to draw characters.
“I love presenting to students,” said Madan. “During the illustrator workshop, I show them the drawing process and teach them to learn from their mistakes and move on. A lot of drawing is trial and error.”
Madan was invited to present to the students by Presidents Librarian Sherri Ballew. Ballew met Madan at a poetry workshop at Western Washington University.
Read Across America week is typically held during the first week of March to promote reading.
