All Arlington elementary students to receive no-cost meals next year

Free mealsAll Arlington elementary students will receive no-cost meals for the 2025-26 school year. Through the Meals for Washington Students program, elementary schools that have 30% or more of children that qualify for free or reduced-price meals can provide breakfast and lunch at no cost to all students at that school. Eagle Creek and Presidents met that threshold for the 2024-25 school year. Kent Prairie Elementary met the threshold in 2023-24. Pioneer previously did not meet that threshold but now qualifies.

In order for a school to qualify each year for the program, it needs to maintain the 30% or higher free and reduced-price meal percentage. Families that qualify are encouraged to complete the free and reduced-price meals form.

“We are pleased that, between the Community Eligibility Provision and Meals for Washington Students programs, all our elementary-level students are able to access breakfast and lunch,” said Ed Aylesworth, director of child nutrition and support services. “As a result, all these students now have the opportunity to be in a better position to complete the job at hand: learn to the best of their ability.”

The Stillaguamish Valley Learning Center and Weston High School are also able to offer no cost meals to all students through the US Department of Agriculture’s Community Eligibility Provision.
