Stillaguamish Valley Learning Center (SVLC) kindergartners toured the Seattle Aquarium during a field trip on March 12.
“We have been learning about sea life in the Puget Sound in class,” said SVLC Kindergarten Teacher Janell Sabol. “The students really enjoyed how hands on the Seattle Aquarium is, especially the tidepool exhibit.”
Students were also able to see fish and other sea life native to the Puget Sound. For many of the students, this was their first time riding a school bus and going to the aquarium.
"I loved watching the sea otters and seeing the seals get fed," said Presley Manza. “It was also fun to watch the fish swim.”
“My favorite parts of the field trip were touching stuff in the tide pools, seeing the octopus and watching the baby jellyfish in the nursery," said Silas Holman.
"I loved touching the animals in the tide pools," said Alijah Anderson. “It was also fun seeing people feed the seals."
Students were able to visit the Seattle Aquarium free of charge since the school qualifies for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Community Eligibility Provision.
“Special thanks to the Seattle Aquarium for hosting our class,” said Sabol. “The students had such a great time!”
