Kiwanis dictionariesThe Arlington Kiwanis Club recently donated dictionaries to third graders in the Arlington, Darrington and Lakewood School Districts.

“We utilize the dictionaries in class when students are trying to find adjectives for their sentences,” said Stefan Katz, third grade teacher at Kent Prairie Elementary. “The dictionaries are a great resource.”

This year, Arlington Kiwanis donated nearly 600 dictionaries to third graders in the three districts. The service group has been donating dictionaries to local students for 22 years. In total, Arlington Kiwanis has donated 13,032 dictionaries to local students over the years.

“When we visit schools, there’s always a student who shares that their older sibling received a dictionary when they were a third grader,” said Al Forar, president of Arlington Kiwanis. “They’re always excited to receive their own dictionary.”
