Summer Meals

Area children can access meals at no cost this summer

Meals at no cost will be available to all children this summer in the community ages 1-18 (21 if part of a Special Education Transitions program). Beginning Tuesday, June 28, 2022 and running through Thursday, July 21, 2022 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, children can receive breakfast from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Presidents Elementary School (505 East 3rd Street, Arlington).

“During COVID-19, there were federal waivers allowing parents to pick up multiple meals at a time for their children to eat at home,” said Ed Aylesworth, director of nutrition and support services. “This summer, the waivers have ended. Therefore, we are returning to standard practices for the Summer Feeding program which requires children to eat all meals on site and only one meal can be served at a time. Parents are no longer able to pick up and take home multiple meals for their children.”

The Arlington Food Bank will continue to distribute meal packs during regular food distribution at the food bank Mondays 5-6 pm; Wednesdays 5:30-6:30 pm; and Fridays 12-1 pm.
